Process & Fees

How we work together.

A clear process and transparent information about fees and general conditions create trust and orientation.

Process

Your path into therapy.

Initial Contact

You are looking for professional support in a difficult situation, with psychological symptoms, or in the context of an important life decision? Or you are still unsure which form of support would be right for you?

In this case, you are welcome to contact me and arrange an initial consultation. Appointment booking is preferably done via Doctolib. If you do not use a Doctolib account, you can alternatively contact me by email.

Initial Consultation

During the initial consultation, we get to know one another and discuss your current situation as well as your concerns and goals.

You will receive an initial professional assessment.

Together, we clarify which next steps would be useful and whether therapeutic work together feels appropriate for both sides.

Assessment Phase

During the assessment phase, we take a closer look at your symptoms, current stressors, and previous coping strategies.

This phase usually consists of two to four sessions and serves to formulate therapy goals and create a solid basis for further therapeutic work.

Psychotherapy

The actual psychotherapeutic work then begins in a protected and structured setting.

Together, we develop new perspectives, try out concrete courses of action, and work with scientifically grounded methods as well as your individual needs.

Course of Therapy

Therapy sessions usually take place once a week and last 50 minutes. If needed, individual appointments can be held as double sessions of 100 minutes. Treatment can take place either in my practice or online.

The duration of therapy depends on your individual concerns and is planned together. In cognitive behavioural therapy, initial improvements can often be achieved within a manageable period of time. Short-term therapy usually comprises up to 27 sessions; long-term therapy typically comprises around 45 to 63 sessions.

If desired, relatives can be included in individual sessions. Towards the end of therapy, it is also possible to gradually increase the intervals between appointments in order to stabilise the changes achieved in everyday life.

Fees & Costs

Transparency and clarity.

Private Insurance and Beihilfe

Cost coverage

The costs of outpatient psychotherapy are generally covered by private health insurance providers and by Beihilfe, provided there is an appropriate indication. The specific extent of cost coverage depends on the individual contractual conditions of your insurance tariff.

Application process

At the beginning of treatment, assessment sessions take place, which are usually already reimbursable. Afterwards, further psychotherapy can be applied for if required. Depending on your insurance provider, a formal application may be necessary, which I will prepare together with you.

Extent of coverage

The number of reimbursed sessions and the amount of cost coverage vary between insurance providers. In individual cases, co-payments may occur. It is therefore advisable to contact your private health insurance provider and, if applicable, your Beihilfe office before starting treatment in order to clarify your individual conditions.

Billing

Billing is based on the German fee schedule for psychotherapists (GOP). You will receive an invoice that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Support

I am happy to support you with all organisational steps regarding applications and clarification of costs.

Self-Payers

Flexibility and privacy

Psychotherapeutic treatment can be started as a self-payer service without bureaucratic hurdles and without a prior application process. This enables treatment to begin promptly and offers a high degree of scheduling flexibility.

Since treatment is not billed through your health insurance provider, no documentation is submitted to your insurer. This may be advantageous, for example, in connection with a later change of insurance provider or when taking out occupational disability insurance.

Under certain conditions, the costs of psychotherapy may be tax-deductible as extraordinary expenses.

Statutory Health Insurance

Cost coverage

The costs of outpatient psychotherapy in a private practice are not routinely covered by statutory health insurance. However, it is possible to apply for cost coverage through the reimbursement procedure. Once this application has been approved by your health insurance provider, the costs of psychotherapeutic treatment are fully covered.

Application process

The process begins with an initial consultation. During this appointment, we clarify your individual treatment needs and I provide detailed information about the reimbursement procedure. Depending on your health insurance provider, different documents and forms may be required. I am happy to support you with all necessary steps.

The initial consultation is charged at 90 euros and must be paid by the patient. Once the reimbursement application has been approved, there are no further costs for you.

Extent of coverage

The number of approved therapy sessions may vary depending on the health insurance provider and the individual case. In principle, however, health insurance providers cover the full costs of the sessions they have approved. This means that no additional treatment costs arise for you.

Billing

Billing is handled directly with the statutory health insurance provider. Patients do not have to pay in advance.

Support

I am happy to support you with all organisational steps regarding the reimbursement application and to answer any questions about the procedure.
